The Richmond Ballet will open its touring season with a performance at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 13 in McCrary Theatre, located in the Center for the Arts on the Elon University campus. Titled “American Masterpieces of Dance,” the program will include works by prominent American choreographers including “From Far Away” by Mauricio Wainrot, “After Eden” by John Butler and “Who Cares?” by George Balanchine.
Based in Richmond, Va., Richmond Ballet was founded in 1957. In 1984, Richmond Ballet became the first professional ballet company in Virginia and was designated State Ballet of Virginia in 1990 by former Gov. Douglas Wilder. In 2000, Richmond Ballet moved into a new facility in downtown Richmond.
Tickets for the performance are $12 or free with Elon identification. Tickets may be purchased at the McCrary Theatre box office at (336) 278-5610. The box office is open from 12:30 p.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday.
