David Crowe, professor of history, was the featured speaker at a daylong workshop for public school teachers in Guilford County on the Holocaust, sponsored by the Guilford County Board of Education and the Greensboro Public Library. Crowe’s lecture and the workshop are part of the city of Greensboro’s One City One Book program, which this year centers around the “Diary of Anne Frank.” Crowe’s two-hour lecture dealt with the history of the Holocaust, beginning with what he termed the “cauldron of the Holocaust,” the two thousand year old traditions of anti-Semitism, and ending with the creation of the Final Solution. Crowe also dealt with the plight of other minorities during the Holocaust, such as the handicapped, the Gypsies, Gays, and other groups.
