Ken Hassell, associate professor of art, will exhibit his work and serve as visiting artist Oct. 3-5 at Fairmont State University, Fairmont, W.Va. He will give a formal talk and will visit art, folklore and Appalachian studies courses to meet with students and discuss his work.
A delegation from Italy will also be present during his visit to commemorate one of the worst disasters in coal mining history at the Monongah mine, six miles from Fairmont. A total of 362 men and boys lost their lives in the explosion, many of them Italians.
