On Nov. 8, students and faculty from Elon participated in the first annual meeting of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching’s new Carnegie Academy for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Institutional Leadership Program. Representatives of some 70 colleges and universities from seven countries met in Washington to launch the three year program.
Elon is contributing to a program theme on “student voices in the scholarship of teaching and learning.” Four students and five faculty from Elon took part in the meeting:
– Ashley Holmes (English)
– Deborah Long (Education/Faculty Administrative Fellow)
– Jessica Waugh (senior, Education)
– Julia Robert (first year, Honors/Biology)
– Kathryn Wymer Segedy (IDD/CATL)
– Kristin Hahn (senior, Education)
– Lisa Bodine (first year, Honors/Biology)
– Peter Felten (CATL)
– Stephen Schulman (Philosophy)
Donna Van Bodegraven (Spanish) and Jeffrey Coker (Biology) also are part of Elon’s Carnegie team, but they were unable to travel to Washington for the meeting.
Elon’s Carnegie group will be working with its program partners for the next three years. For more information on the program, or to join the group, please contact Peter Felten.
