Heidi G. Frontani, associate professor of geography in the department of history and geography, co-chaired the Urban Areas section of the 49th annual meeting of the African Studies Association with Robert Roundy of the University of California, Berkeley. Frontani also chaired the panel on Land and the Inscription of Memory during the Nov. 16-19 conference and presented a paper titled ‘Ideologies of Land and Place: Memories from Zimbabwe’s War of Liberation’. Frontani and student Justine M. Davis (who is studying abroad in Ghana) researched and wrote the paper through Elon’s summer undergraduate research experience (SURE) program earlier this year.
