Monica Pagano, assistant dean of international programs, recently presented at the European Association of International Education (EAIE) in Basel, Switzerland. Her presentation was titled “Service Learning and Intercultural Competence: What is it and how is it done?”
Pagano was awarded a grant with Laura Roselle, professor of political science, from the NAFSA, the Association of International Educators, to direct and conduct a state study abroad workshop at Elon on international service learning and international internships. Faculty and administrators from North Carolina colleges and universities attended the workshop, held earlier this year.
Pagano also served as an author and contributor to “A Handbook for Hosting: Guide to Welcoming U.S. Students to your Campus.” Published by the Academy for Educational Development (AED), the guides will distributed worldwide.
