Frances Ward-Johnson, associate professor in the School of Communications, contributed three invited entries to the newly released Encyclopedia of American Race Riots, edited by Walter Rucker and James Upton. The two-volume encyclopedia is published by Greenwood Press in its series “Milestones in African American History.”
Ward-Johnson’s entries focus on African American women and lynching, African American soldiers and lynching, and the U.S. government’s response to race riots as well as media coverage of the violence. More information about the volumes is included in the following link:
