A column by David Noer, the Frank S. Holt Jr. Professor of Business Leadership, appeared in the Sunday, Dec. 10 edition of the Greensboro News & Record. Noer, who is writing a monthly column for the paper, used Christmas gifts for Greensboro as a frame of reference to discuss seven “gifts” to the community. They were:
- Representatives who take responsibility for their action
- Parents who take responsibility for the development and education of their children
- Voters who hold their representatives accountable
- A community grounded in optimism, not victimization
- Understanding that our political boundaries are an artifact of the past
- Financially responsible nonprofit organizations
- The elimination of stereotyping.
