“Imagining the Internet: Personalities, Predictions, Perspectives,” by Janna Quitney Anderson, director of Internet projects and assistant professor in the School of Communications, has been chosen as a CHOICE Outstanding Academic Title for 2006 by the American Library Association. The prestigious annual list reflects the best titles reviewed by the organization’s CHOICE magazine, and is the top recognition of the academic library community. This year’s list, published in the magazine’s January issue, includes 640 titles in 54 disciplines, chosen from about 7,000 works reviewed. CHOICE editors make their selections based on overall excellence and scholarship, the importance relative to other literature in the field, originality of treatment, value to undergraduate students and importance in building undergraduate library collections.
Anderson’s book on Internet chosen for national award
Anderson’s book was published in fall 2005 by Rowman & Littlefield, and explores the wit and wisdom of the world’s leading technology gurus, zeroing in on predictions about the Internet’s future and putting that imagined future in perspective. The book is a companion to Elon’s Imagining the Internet Web site.
