The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company is accepting résumés for a communications intern, safety, health and workers’ compensation intern, and Human Resources intern at its Danville, Va., tire manufacturing plant.
The Communications position reports to the Communications Manager. The intern is responsible for the day-to-day fulfillment of the plant’s strategic communications plan, including developing and maintaining all forms of internal and external communications like newsletters, electronic presentations, industry awareness and positive community relationships for the plant.
Responsibilities include: developing and executing communication plans to reflect the goals and strategies of the company, drafting news stories for internal publications, producing communications messages for internal audiences and plans for executing delivery of messages via the most appropriate tools.
The Safety and workers comp. intern will report to the Manager of Safety, Health, and Workers’ Compensation. The Safety Intern will participate and develop skills in the facility’s plantwide effort to achieve positive results in accident prevention. The Safety Intern will also be responsible for the day-to-day fulfillment and promotion of a safe physical and mental workplace environment at the Danville facility.

While practicing personal safety and leading by example, the Safety Intern will work as part of a team and individually to develop and maintain safety procedures and analyze needs for creating a safer work environment and on developing, revising and/or performing and implementing Safety & Health accident prevention programs, initiatives, projects, and policies in a positive and results-driven manner.
The Human Resources intern will allow an individual to serve as an HR business partner by providing leadership and ongoing support for talent acquisition, talent management, performance management, rewards, employee relations, and development efforts focused on organizational, team, and individual levels.

Candidate must possess good writing and organization skills, maintain a positive attitude in a deadline-oriented environment, and have technical experience in presentation software, desktop publishing, intranets and audio/visual equipment.
Students pursuing a degree in journalism, communications, PR, or similar discipline, are preferred. The ideal candidate will have two or more years of experience in public relations or communications with a corporation or media organization (for instance, a high school correspondent for their hometown newspaper). Experience with Microsoft PowerPoint and Publisher is desired.
