Cobb earns Duke nonprofit management certificate

Tammy Cobb, outreach coordinator in the Kernodle Center for Service Learning, recently earned her certification in the Duke University Nonprofit Management Program. Some of the courses that Tammy took while in this program were Leadership through Influence, How to Lead Change in Organizations, Volunteer Management, Managing Multiple Priorities, and Innovation in Action. Tammy plans to continue her professional development by focusing on gaining Duke’s Advanced Leadership Certificate in the future.

Through Duke’s office of Continuing Studies, this program offers individuals in nonprofit and educational organizations an opportunity to engage in innovative, interactive and transformative learning experiences led by seasoned instructors.  The mission of the program is to strengthen the capacities of people, organizations and networks within the nonprofit sector.  It also provides a forum where participants can interact and learn from the experiences of their colleagues facing many of the same challenges.

Elon University sponsors four classes each semester here on campus to make it convenient for staff supervisors and department Chairs to take these courses and gain their certification.  Mary Santiago in Leadership Development is the site coordinator for the Duke Nonprofit Management program.
