ASSISTANT DIRECTOR
SPECIAL EVENTS & COMMUNICATIONS
to work in its McLean, VA office
College Connections, Inc, works with alumni, parents and students of universities, including Duke, Clemson and Bucknell, in Washington, DC, Baltimore, and nationally.
We’re looking for a multi-talented individual who thrives with a varied and challenging work day, performs well in a professional, yet relaxed office environment, can work independently, and desires to be part of an exciting and growing business.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Word, Access (or any database program), PowerPoint and Excel; some desktop publishing experience is strongly preferred.
Applicants must be well organized, detailed-oriented, and self-starters; plus have skills commensurate with the following job description:
Event and Meeting Planning (for groups of 10 to 500)
Develop themes/concepts and budget; facility and vendor selection; pre-event and on-site logistical management; handle registration; assist with publicity and promotional planning; handle correspondence and inquiries
Communications
Develop and implement communications plan for clients; write, edit, and oversee production of all publications (for example, newsletters, flyers, membership solicitations) and web site content
Membership Development
Promote and manage membership programs; increase participation and dues
Leadership Development and Volunteer Coordination
Expand relationships with scores of volunteers and coordinate volunteer efforts; support Boards of Directors; work with young alumni groups
Entrepreneurial Passion
Passion to help grow a business that is revolutionizing the way universities interact with their alumni
