Elon sophomore Larissa Ferretti was the subject of a Feb. 22 column in Florida’s Treasure Coast newspapers. Columnist Russ Lemmon wrote about Ferretti’s participation in an Elon Winter Term Habitat for Humanity project in Guatemala.
The column quoted from Ferretti’s journal:
“I’ve been reminded of what true love is. It’s a kiss when you get home, holding hands as you cross the street, laughter, that special look, a hand on your back when in a public place — just to be reminded they’re there. Even more than all of those things (which I have gotten to see on our site), it is mixing cement, carrying blocks, working to support a family.
“True love can’t be expressed solely with candy, flowers or vacations. It is way beyond any of that.”
