Dorothy Verkerk, associate professor of art at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will discuss medievalism in modern America during a lecture at 6 p.m., Thursday, April 5 in Yeager Recital Hall, located in the Center for the Arts on campus. Her lecture, titled “Pride and Plaid: Celtic Revival in North Carolina Funerary Monuments,” is free and open to the public.
Verkerk’s lecture, part of the Art History Lecture Series, will examine the influences of Celtic and medieval revival on funeral markers in the South. The lecture series brings noted artists to campus to discuss timely and diverse topics in art history.
