The honor society of Phi Kappa Phi inducted 125 new members during ceremonies Wednesday evening, April 18. Read this note for the names of inductees and other details...
Founded in 1897, Phi Kappa Phi is the nation’s oldest and largest academic honor society, whose mission is “To recognize and promote academic excellence in all fields of higher education and to engage the community of scholars in service to others.”
Each year, chapters may invite the top 7.5 percent of juniors and the top 10 percent of seniors, based on academic achievement, into the society. Since the founding of Phi Kappa Phi, more than one million members have been initiated in the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines.
Elon’s chapter of Phi Kappa Phi was installed in 1995. The first class of inductees included 79 students and 3 faculty members. Elon’s chapter has distinguished itself through participation in national conferences, sponsoring winners of graduate fellowships and hosting a sub-regional conference.
