Students in a corporate communications senior seminar course taught by Professor David Copeland recently held a fundraising event to benefit Elon senior Lee Mynhardt, who was injured in an off-campus incident in February. Members of the class planned an event called Project Botswana, in honor of Mynhardt’s home country. The class sold bracelets with the letters SCI (spinal cord injury) on one side and the word “cheers” on the other, one of Mynhardt’s favorite greetings.
On April 19, the class held an event at Cantina Roble in Elon, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Mynhardt and his family. Along with the sale of bracelets, the events raised approximately $500 for the family.
In addition, members of the class sold bracelets at B. Christopher’s restaurant in Burlington April 25 and 27. Mynhardt previously worked at the restaurant.
