Evan A. Gatti’s chapter “Building the Body of the Church: A Bishop’s Blessing in the Benedictional of Engilmar of Parenzo” will appear in the _The Bishop Re-Formed: Studies of Episcopal Power and Culture in the Central Middle Ages_. The chapter is developed from Gatti’s dissertation on the iconography of episcopal portraiture in the Early Middle Ages. The portrait at the center of the chapter is the opening miniature from a book of episcopal blessings produced for the Bishop of Parenzo (modern-day Porec, Croatia) and now held in the Getty Museum in Los Angeles.
