Allen E. Gant Jr., chairman of the Elon University Board of Trustees and President and CEO of Glen Raven, Inc., has been named Alamance County Man of the Year by the Boy Scouts. Details...
Gant received the award at a May 22 banquet held on campus. The Boy Scouts have named an Alamance County Man of the Year since 1989, honoring outstanding leaders in the community.
Gant has headed Glen Raven Inc. since 1996, building the company that is one of the largest and most important employers in the county. Today, Glen Raven ships to companies in more than 125 countries around the world.
Gant also provides outstanding community leadership, serving on several boards in addition to his role on the Elon board of trustees. He is also a long-time supporter of the Boy Scouts.
Gant was honored at the banquet by Boy Scouts Alamance District Chairman Mickey Kluttz, Scout Executive John Meeks, and Elon President Leo M. Lambert who called Gant “a remarkable man who takes his obligations to his family, his employees and his community very seriously.”
