CASE is the world’s leading organization for education professionals who work in development, alumni relations and communications.
Elon has been awarded the 2007 CASE-WealthEngine Award for overall improvement in educational fundraising, highlighting successful efforts during the past three years.
Elon was one of the three schools to win in the private comprehensive university category. A total of 1,010 higher education institutions were eligible for recognition, with only 46 universities winning CASE awards this year. Awards were given for overall performance and overall improvement in fundraising. The two other universities to win in the private comprehensive university category were Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C., and Seattle University in Seattle, Wash.
Winners were chosen by a panel of senior development professionals based on data submitted to the Council for Aid to Education’s (CAE’s) Voluntary Support of Education survey. Gifts to Elon from alumni, parents and friends increased from $6.2 million in 2003-2004, to $10.3 million in 2004-2005 and a record $13.5 million in 2005-2006. Fundraising success continued in 2006-2007, with gifts totaling $13.2 million.
“Donor support has made this recognition possible,” says Nan Perkins, vice president for institutional advancement. “Members of the Elon community are supporting the university at higher levels every year. In doing so, they are demonstrating their belief in Elon, its strong values and the tremendous benefits provided to the young people whose lives are transformed here.”
Elon’s Institutional Advancement division includes the areas of individual giving, development, alumni relations, university relations and church relations. Fundraising is organized into offices responsible for major gifts, annual giving, planned gifts, foundation/corporate relations, Phoenix Athletics, School of Law, donor relations, research, database management and gift records.
