Crista Arangala, associate professor of mathematics, and Ellen Mir, assistant professor of mathematics, presented talks at MathFest, the annual meeting of the Mathematical Association of America, held in San Jose, CA, Aug. 3-5. Arangala’s talk, titled “Presenting Mathematics through the Elon Traveling Science Center”, gave details about how to do math and science research in a service course on interactive science museum exhibits. Mir’s talk, “Leximorphic Spaces”, described mathematics research conducted with Arangala and mathematics faculty member Todd Lee, as well as 2005 Elon graduate Aja Johnson.
