Elon's two newest residence halls, Colonnades A and B, are ready for students to move into during opening weekend. Final touches to the buildings being completed this week included landscaping and site clean-up. Details...
The Colonnades, adjacent to the Ernest A. Koury Sr. Business Center, include a total of 154 single bedrooms arranged as stand-alone singles or in suites of four rooms. Stand-alone singles provide students with their own room, including a double bed and a private bathroom. The four-bedroom suites contain four single rooms with double beds, two bathrooms and a furnished living room. Each floor in the residence buildings has a laundry room and a common area. The common area provides a space for studying and meeting with others, as well as a kitchenette equipped with an oven, stove, refrigerator and sink.
The Colonnades will house seven learning communities, six of which are new programs this year. This year the Spanish House, French House, German House, Italian House, Business Learning Community, Sustainable Living Community and Collective Action and Responsibility Community will be located in the Colonnades. The learning communities at Elon have been acknowledged for their excellence. U.S. News and World Report lists Elon’s learning communities on their “Programs to Look For” in its “America’s Best Colleges 2008.”
The Colonnades Dining Hall, adjacent to the Colonnades residence halls, is nearing completion and will provide several new dining options in a location convenient to the new residence halls, as well as Danieley Center.
