Elon senior Alston Team, along with his parents, Robin and Katherine Team, have made a generous gift to establish a merit-based scholarship for deserving business students who have financial need. The R. Alston Team III Endowed Scholarship in Business will be awarded to students with a high GPA, a record of contributions to the business school, and who exhibit potential for professional success.
Alston Team, a business major who is also minoring in economics, served as a student representative on Elon’s campaign planning committee. “That experience stirred an interest in me to try to do my part to help Elon,” says Team, a native of Lexington, N.C. He says his parents, who have been active members of the Parents Council at Elon, also played a critical role in his decision to establish a scholarship at the university.
“Tithing to the church and giving to other organizations and causes has been important to them,” Team says. “I would like to follow their example and see this scholarship make a difference in the lives of other students.”
After a summer job on the North Carolina coast following graduation, Team plans to move to California to take a job with LNR, a commercial real estate firm. Eventually, he hopes to attend graduate school and earn an MBA. He says he looks forward to meeting recipients of the scholarship.
“Earning a scholarship is a great accomplishment for anyone,” Team said. “Having the chance to help someone achieve their goals is very gratifying to me.”
