Alan Russell, associate professor of mathematics, presented at the 9th International Conference of the Mathematics Education into the 21st Century Project. This conference, focusing on Mathematics Education in a Global Community, was held on the campus of UNC Charlotte and included participants from more than 20 nations.
Alan presented “Origami, Papierfalten, and Papiroflexia: Paper Folding in Mathematics Education,” which focused on the deep mathematical content arising from simple paper folding projects and featured discussion of these activities among teams of educators from Australia, Canada, Israel, Poland, Portugal, Russia, and the UK.
