Physics professor Pranab Das reports that he finally has
his keys and ID card and is settled in to an office in the basement of the
physics department at Oxford for the fall semester. He looks forward to spending the
heady days of his sabbatical amid
the clattering and whirring of many mysterious devices and in the silent, musty
