College Democrats is inviting the Elon community to stand in solidarity with the six African American students facing prison sentences in Louisiana for acting against Jim Crow laws. As part of the National Day of Action on Sept. 20, the community is asked to wear black as an easy way to show solidarity and remind ourselves of the injustice taking place. There will be a forum at 7:30 in the Zone where people are invited to discuss the case and what it means for justice in America. Visit www.colorofchange.org/jena/ to learn more and send Governor Blanco of Louisiana a letter asking him to make a commitment to justice and issue reprieves to any of the young men who are convicted.
