
Bolin researched the history of competitive bodybuilding among men and women. She finds that “those who are genetically predisposed with a symmetrical body shape, full muscle bellies, small joints, and muscle that grows readily, will have an advantage.”
Still, Bolin writes, bodybuilding may be regarded as a “very democratic sport.”
