Elon’s student-run television station was honored in several categories of the 2007 Radio and Television News Directors Association of the Carolinas news contest.
Phoenix 14 News placed in the top two of all four categories it entered: Best Student Television Newscast, Best Student Television News Story, Best Student Television Feature and Best Student Sports Story. RTNDAC did not announce who won first place. The top winner is announced at an Oct. 27 awards ceremony.
“Having Phoenix14 News place first and second in four RTNDAC categories recognizes the special talents and capabilities of the student’s broadcast lessons in both the academic classroom and the engaged learning experience,” says Linda Lashendock, Phoenix14’s adviser. “I am extremely proud of each student staff member. It is a positive reflection of the School of Communications and Elon Student Television.
“This is an opportunity for the students of Phoenix14News to challenge themselves for further continuous growth.”
The contest judges the best of television, radio and web site work from July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2007.
