Stop by EV!’s table in Moseley on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007, to learn more about EV!’s service programs and safe rides. Organizations present will be the following:
EV! Coaches – coordinators present 10-10:45 a.m. – This program works with the Burlington Park and Rec department, coaching basketball in the winter and soccer in the spring. Volunteers coach elementary aged children. In need of interested Spring soccer coaches.
Lunch Buddies – coordinator present 11 a.m. – noon – This program works at Sedalia Elementary school and pairs Elon students with elementary aged children in need of a positive adult influence in their lives. The program will be expanding to Gibsonville Elementary in the spring and is in need of more volunteers.
S.H.A.R.E. – coordinators present 12-1 p.m. – This program works with the Burlington Animal Shelter and the Humane Society to better the lives of homeless animals in Alamance County. Volunteers are always needed.
Green Team – coordinators tentatively present 1-2 p.m. – This group works in the community to better the environment. Potential volunteer opportunities including working with Adopt-A-Stream and helping clear a nature trail at Sedalia Elementary.
Adopt-A-Grandparent – coordinators tentatively present 2-3 p.m. – This group works at three elder care facilities in the community. Volunteers can help run activities at the facilities, adopt a grandparent, or help plan and volunteer with a Senior Prom.
Safe Rides – coordinators and captains present 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. – Safe Rides is a group of volunteers that provides designated driving services during high-drinking times. Drivers and dispatchers always needed.

There will be representatives present from 10-10:45 a.m. and 12-1:30 p.m. that can answer your questions about any of these programs. Interest sheet sign up forms will also be present on the table so that coordinators can contact you at a later date!
