Elon parents Terry and Vicki Shore of Parkland, Fla., have made a gift to establish The Shore Family Endowed Scholarship, which will assist incoming freshmen with financial need. The recipient will alternate between a male and female student.
The Shores are members of the Parents Council and are loyal donors to the Parents Fund. They also are members of The Elon Society President’s Circle. The Shores made the gift because they wanted to make quality education available to students with limited financial means.
The Shores have been happy with the experiences of their children, Brandon, who is a senior, and Brooke, a freshman. Brandon, a business and accounting major, is a team leader with Elon’s intramurals program and serves on the Presidential Task Force on Alcohol.
Terry Shore is a general contractor in Florida and together with Vicki owns and operates a plumbing and construction company. The couple have hosted receptions at their home to welcome new parents and students to Elon.
The Shores’ gift will be counted toward Elon’s upcoming fundraising campaign, which is centered on building the university’s endowment to fund scholarships for additional deserving students, to attract talented faculty through endowed professorships and to support quality academic programs among other initiatives.
