An adjunct assistant professor of biology at Elon University has joined a biomedical research institution in Research Triangle Park where her work on breast cancer will provide data for drug companies developing new treatments to the disease.
Julianne Hall will be working in molecular pharmacology, according to a Nov. 28 news release from The Hamner Institutes for Health Sciences, an independent, nonprofit organization that unites academia, the private sector and government.
“We are extremely pleased that Dr. Hall has joined the senior scientific staff at The Hamner Institutes,” Dr. William Greenlee, president and CEO of the institutes, said in the news release. “She is a key addition to our emerging cancer biology program focused on the development of novel therapeutic approaches for the detection and treatment of breast cancer and other cancers.”
Hall earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from Trinity College in Hartford, Conn., and doctoral degree in pharmacology from Duke University. She is a member of the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology, the Endocrine Society and Women in Endocrinology.
Hall lives in Durham with her husband. She began her duties at the research institution in September, said Erin Knight, communications manager for the nonprofit.
