Elon parents Tom and Ginny O’Brien of Cincinnati have made a generous scholarship gift to enable more students to pursue international education. The O’Brien Family Study Abroad Scholarship will help students with high financial need study abroad during fall or spring semester or Elon’s January winter term.
The O’Briens made their gift because they believe strongly in the ability of international education to transform students’ lives. In an increasingly global climate, the couple wanted to make these experiences available to more students with limited financial resources.
Tom and Ginny O’Brien are members of the Parents Council. Loyal donors to the university, they also are members of The Elon Society Chairman’s Circle. Their daughter, Libby, is a sophomore majoring in elementary education.
Tom O’Brien is a vice president at Procter and Gamble, which made a matching gift to Elon, doubling the amount of the couple’s original gift.
