Matthew Valle, associate professor of business administration, and Art Cassill, professor of accounting and chair of the department of accounting and finance, have been notified that their manuscript “The Windfall Profits Tax – Again: The Tax Policy Implications of a Failed Concept” has been accepted for presentation at the 2008 International Conference of the Society for the Advancement of Management in Arlington, Va.
This paper reviews the historical standards associated with tax policy decisions and compares those to elements of general windfall profits tax concepts, and more specifically to applications of windfall profits tax proposals on oil companies. Issues in the current debate are explored.
