Virginia newspaper features Elon course on NASCAR

A popular Winter Term course at Elon was featured in a Virginia newspaper when the class visited the state on Monday, Jan. 21, 2008. The story on the class, BUS 350 W “Business of NASCAR,” is no longer available online.

The course is taught by Coleman R. Rich, who, along with Elon Registrar  Mark Albertson,  took  25 students to South Boston, Va., for a firsthand look at the South Boston Speedway.

“We draw parallels between the NFL and NASCAR, look at marketing
aspects and why companies want to sponsor a driver, and also look at
the demographics of those who attend races,” Coleman told reporter Doug Ford with the Gazette-Virginian in Halifax County.
