On Wednesday, February 20th, the moon will “turn to blood” as it passes through the Earth’s shadow. Weather permitting, the Elon University Department of Physics will host a public viewing of this eclipse. From 9:30 PM to 10:30 PM, we will be pointing the university’s telescopes at the eclipsed moon and other astronomical objects of interest, including Saturn, Mars, and the Orion Nebula.
Interested observers should come to the front desk of the Koury Athletic Center, near its northeast entrance. From there, people will be directed to the rooftop observing platform. Please call 336-278-6328 (x6328) after 9:00 PM on February 20th to learn if the weather permits us to hold this event.
