The Leisure and Sport Management Society hosted its 3rd Annual Sport Business Conference in the LaRose Digital Theater last month, with six professionals from the leisure and sport industries offering students advice on achieving career goals.
Speakers included the following:
1.) Michael Beale, assistant athletic director for marketing at UNC-Chapel Hill & 1993 graduate of Elon’s LSM program
2.) Dave Cagianello, vice president and regional managing director for General Motors R*Works
3.) Stoke Caldwell, Bradshaw & Hinson, P.A., a lawyer specializing in sport and corporate law
4.) Joan LeMahieu, president of The Parade Company and executive director of the Michigan Thanksgiving Parade Foundation
5.) Doreen Lumpkin, guest services division manager, Greensboro Coliseum
6.) and Larry Perkins, assistant general manager of the RBC Center
Speakers talked briefly about their professional careers and spent extensive time in more intimate break-out sessions to respond to student questions related to their personal career goals. The Feb. 23 event concluded with a panel discussion with all speakers responding to questions from the conference attendees.
Students and faculty from High Point University, Methodist University, North Carolina Central University, North Carolina State University and Wingate University were in attendance as well.
