Every year, the Niche Publications Department of the Winston-Salem Journal hires a summer intern to write stories for our annual City Guide, a publication about Winston-Salem and its surrounding communities.
This internship is writing-intensive, so the ideal candidate would be a journalism, English or communications major. The candidate should be detail-oriented and have strong writing skills, knowledge of AP style and a commitment to accuracy.
Responsibilities will include:
- Developing story ideas and creating City Guide story budget
- Updating charts and lists
- Conducting interviews for feature stories
- Writing feature stories
- Making photo assignments for photographer when needed
- Proofreading pages from the various niche publications and syndicated products
