Young graduates must use their time, energy, idealism – and, yes, even luck - to find solutions to problems confronting the world, according to an acclaimed Broadway director, who addressed students April 10, 2008, at Elon University’s Spring Convocation for Honors.

James Michael Foreman, an Elon University student who died one year ago, was remembered Friday on the anniversary of his death with a ceremony and butterfly release outside the main entrance to the Moseley Center.

Elon junior Breanna Detwiler has been named a recipient of a 2008 Morris K. Udall Scholarship, an award for scholars dedicated to careers related to the environment. It is the second time in the past month she has made school history by winning a national fellowship never before awarded to an Elon student.
