“Pawn Shoppe” art exhibition opens April 20

An art exhibition featuring work by graduating seniors opens in the Elon West Gallery on Sunday with a reception that is free and open to the campus community.

The 2008 senior thesis exhibition, “Pawn Shoppe,” runs through April 30.  The gallery will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The opening reception will be held from 1-3 p.m., where gallery visitors can enjoy refreshments and see the work of 11 senior art majors.

Every year the art department has its seniors put on an exhibition.  Students have been working on the concepts behind their art since the fall, meeting with a committee of professors who have provided the students with feedback on their work.

“Pawn Shoppe” is the first of the two senior exhibitions that will take place.  The artwork consists of a variety of media from students who have been studying photography, digital art, ceramics or painting. Their thesis artwork, however, has not been limited to their specified concentration.

Students featured in the exhibition:

Rebecca Brackett
Hunter Copeland
Devon Cosenza
Megan Coyle
Britt Hansen
Taylor Hinson
Meghan McInerney
M. Spencer Johnson
