Dean Paul Parsons of Elon's School of Communications has been nationally elected to his third term on the Teaching Standards Committee of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC).
Parsons first served on the committee from 1998through 2004, when the committee selected him to be an AEJMCrepresentative on the Accrediting Council from 2004-07.
In the 2008 election, six candidates vied for threeseats on the Teaching Standards Committee. Parsons received the mostvotes nationally, with the other seats filled by professors at ArizonaState and North Texas. Other candidates represented Indiana University,Missouri-St. Louis and the University of Oklahoma.
Parsons will begin his new term on the committee on Oct. 1.
