Elon University’s club lacrosse team was eliminated from its first ever MCLA Divsion II National Championship tournament appearance when the team fell 19-10 to the University of St. Thomas on May 14 in Texas.
The loss came one day after the Phoenix advanced to the quarterfinals of the tournament with a 17-5 win over Framingham State College in the opening round of the tournament.
The No. 6-seeded Phoenix topped No. 11 Framingham despite falling behind after only seven seconds into the match. Against the No. 3-seeded Tommies, the Phoenix were unable to overcome an early deficit, and their championship dreams were dashed.
