Douglas Finberg, senior vice president of international marketing for Paramount Pictures and a 1994 Elon alumnus, will deliver Elon's 2008 commencement address. Details...
Commencement is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 24, Under the Oaks in front of West Residence Hall.
Finberg was named senior vice president of Paramount in 2006. He acts as a liaison for filmmakers, studio executives and producers in Los Angeles, in addition to producing marketing campaigns for international theatrical releases. His credits include the upcoming DreamWorks Animation release, “Kung Fu Panda,” Marvel Studio’s “Iron Man,” “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” “Transformers,” “Bee Movie,” “Mission Impossible 3” and “Shrek the Third.”
Before arriving at Paramount, Finberg spent 10 years as a creative executive in international marketing and advertising for DreamWorks SKG. He produced audiovisual, print and online advertising campaigns for movies such as “Meet the Fockers,” “The Ring,” “A Beautiful Mind” and “Cast Away,” and he was responsible for implementing an online tracking system for DreamWorks. He received the 2001 Hollywood Reporter Key Art Award for best international comedy trailer for “Meet the Parents.”
Finberg has also served as administrator of international theatrical marketing and distribution services for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Distribution Co., and as a consultant for Universal Pictures international marketing and promotions. His first experience in the entertainment industry, as a public relations intern for Lucasfilm Ltd., came while he was a student at Elon.
Finberg graduated cum laude from Elon with a degree in communications. He later attended classes at the University of California, Los Angeles and the American Film Institute.
