Elon team in Zambia details trip on blog

A team from Elon University flew to Zambia in May to gather interviews for a documentary under development by the Periclean Scholars Class of 2009. The group, which is also developing a Winter Term program that involves Habitat for Humanity, shared its work on a blog and has produced a short video explaining its mission.

Elon senior Courtney Latta, English professor Stephen Braye and Bryan Baker, a senior audio producer at the university, traveled to the African nation through a grant for the ’09 class.

Their mission is threefold:

1.) Collect audio and video interviews for the documentary the class is putting together;

2.) Research the logistics of a Winter Term program where Elon students would spend a month building a home in Zambia in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity International; and

3.) Identify Zambians with the knowledge and interest necessary for coming to North Carolina as a “Periclean-in-Residence.”
