Tony SawyerTony Sawyer, Elon’s Director of Bands, participated in the 6th Annual National Collegiate Marching and Athletic Band Symposium from May 29-31 at the University of Washington in Seattle. The conference is part of the College Band Directors National Association and was developed so that directors could meet and share information about collegiate athletic bands through a series of presentations, guest speakers, and collaborative sessions.
Sawyer was selected to participate on the panel discussion titled “Developing Strategies to Work Effectively With Your Athletic Department,” along with directors from the University of Mississippi and University of Arkansas, and Athletic Directors from the University of Arkansas and University of Washington. The symposium has been a huge success and is growing each year, with more than 100 college band directors from around the United States attending in Seattle.
Next year’s event will be held at the University of Connecticut in late May.
