Parsons speaks with News 14 Carolina about newspaper layoffs

Paul Parsons, dean of the School of Communications, was interviewed June 16 by statewide cable news channel News 14 Carolina about layoffs announced the same day at the News & Observer in Raleigh and the Charlotte Observer in Charlotte, N.C.

Thestate’s two largest daily newspapers are owned by the same company,which has publicly stated its goal of reducing its U.S. work force about 10 percent in the face of declining revenues.
