An Elon parent and an alumnus have made generous endowment gifts recently to support engaged learning opportunities in the School of Communications and general endowment needs.
Margaret Foreman, of Raleigh, N.C., made her gift in loving memory of her son, James Michael Foreman, an Elon sophomore who died on April 11, 2007. The gift will establish the James Michael Elzar Foreman Endowment for Elon Experiences in the School of Communications.
The award will be given to the most promising senior communications major working in television production. It will support the student’s participation in any of the Elon Experiences: study abroad, internships, research, leadership or service. Michael Foreman was a communications major and completed an Emma L. Bowen Foundation internship with NBC in New York City in summer 2005.
A $25,000 unrestricted endowment gift from Cam Tims ’00 of Raleigh will enable the university to use the funds where they are needed most. Tims is president of the Young Alumni Council, which promotes ties between Elon and graduates of the past decade.
These gifts will be counted as part of Elon’s upcoming fundraising campaign to build the endowment.
