Stephen
Schulman, assistant professor of philosophy, co-presented a workshop
with Spoma Jovanovic, an associate professor of communication studies
at UNCG, at last week’s 17th International Workshop-Conference of the
American Association of Philosophy Teachers, held at the University of
Guelph.
Schulman and Jovanovic offered a theoretical argument for
the need to teach political engagement and offered models of their
teaching in a workshop entitled: “Who’s Afraid of Politics? On
the Need to Teach Political Engagement.”
Schulman
also co-facilitated the seminar in teaching philosophy for graduate
students with Donna Engelmann, professor of philosophy and Chair of the
Philosophy Department at Alverno College (Milwaukee, WI) and David
Concepcion, associate professor of philosophy at Ball State University
(Muncie, IN).
