Matthew Valle, professor of management, has been notified that a manuscript co-written with Dr. Vickie Gallagher of Northern Kentucky University and Dr. Ken Harris of Indiana University has been accepted for publication in the journal Career Development International. The manuscript, “Understanding the use of intimidation as a response to job tension: Career implications for the global leader” reports on a study the research team conducted which investigated the relationship between job tension and the use of intimidation in the workplace. The study also investigated the moderating effect of trait affectivity on influence behavior use (intimidation). The results indicated that the use of intimidation behaviors increased when job tension and negative affectivity were high. The study details important career implications for managers operating in international environments.
