Students who have studied overseas, as well as professors who research international education, are invited to share their experiences and work at the inaugural Study Abroad Forum this November for which abstracts are now being accepted.
Study Abroad Forum Conference
Tuesday, November 11, 2008
4:15-7:15 p.m.
McKinnon Hall in the Moseley Center
Deadline for abstract submissions: Sept. 12, 2008
The Study Abroad Forum will celebrate academic achievements of students, alumni, faculty and staff, resulting from study abroad in a variety of contexts including winter term, semester programs, international service learning and internships.
Its goals are to help integrate study abroad opportunities into the academic environment at Elon, to serve as preparation for students who will study abroad, and to provide a forum for significant reflection and analysis for those students who have returned from short term or semester study abroad programs.
Abstracts are encouraged from students who have significant learning and scholarly experiences in, resulting from, or about the study-abroad setting. Professors who have conducted research on international education are also invited to apply to present at the Forum.
North Carolina State University students and faculty are also invited to present at and attend the forum.
Themes for submission include: disciplinary (academic) learning, cultural awareness and personal growth. The format for presentations may be traditional scholarship, reflections, performance, exhibition/visual arts, examples of pedagogy, and the scholarship of teaching and learning.
Poster proposals will be accepted as well. Panels and roundtables proposed and/or organized by faculty and students are encouraged.
More information and abstract submission is found on the conference website, accessible by clicking the link to the upper right of this page.
