The Elon campus community was given a preview of the upcoming fundraising campaign kickoff at a special College Coffee event Oct. 7. Nan Perkins, vice president for university advancement, told students, faculty and staff that the campaign that will be launched during this weekend’s activities is the first in Elon history to focus on building the university’s endowment. She explained that every gift to the campaign counts, and will be crucial in building the funds needed to support student scholarships, faculty development, engaged learning programs and the maintenance of the campus.
Greg Zaiser, dean of admissions and co-chair of the faculty-staff campaign, said it was appropriate the campaign be celebrated at a College Coffee, which is a hallmark of the Elon community.
Chase Rumley, president of the Student Government Association, called on students to support the campaign and leave a legacy of giving for future students.
College Coffee attendees were treated to a special Campaign Cake to mark the special occasion.
