Elon University’s Public Relations Student Society of America has been selected from PRSSA chapters across the nation to host a regional conference in 2009.
The conference, titled “PR Outside the Box,” will spotlight lesser-known public relations careers in an effort to expand students’ perceptions regarding job opportunities in the PR field. Featured speakers will include professionals in publicity, public affairs, investor relations, issues management and social media.
“Outside the box” strategies and tactics will also be showcased.
This will be Elon’s third consecutive regional conference. Last year, the chapter received the Outstanding Regional Activity award in recognition of Elon’s crisis communications event in February 2007.
PRSSA, one of the nation’s largest pre-professional organizations, aims to provide networking, educational and professional development opportunities to future practitioners. Celebrating 40 years, the organization includes 9,600 members and 285 chapters at colleges and universities in 43 states and Washington, D.C.
